Description : The Sare cave’s arrangement stands out thanks to its originality ones its quality. The intervention of several groups of Engineers, Artists, Technicians, Prehistorians, Historians Basque anes and others have enabled the protection of this ancestral patrimony.
The tour is rythmed thanks to light and sound effects which use new technologies in the underground world.
Moreover, the new tour shows the cave at its best and stands off places not much exploited until nowadays. The tour is easy, open to everybody thanks to a pavement path.
The new scenario focuses on 3 main themes : the geology of the cave, Basque people’s popular believes and their Mythology, the Origin of Basque people.
We are able to enter upon these themes thanks to JM de Barandiaran who made a lot of work in these fields. Furthermore we would like to thank the Basque Culture Institute and Michel Duvert (Barandiaran’s work’s specialist) for their valuable contribute.
The tour lasts 45 minutes. It can be in French, in Basque, in Spanish or in English.
