ARMAITE was established in 1979. In 2002, Pascale Pereira, a third-generation espadrille manufacturer, took over the business. Trained by her father, a “master craftsman” , for 18 years, Pascale knows how to continue this family journey.
Our small workshop in Idaux-Mendy operates with traditional machinery. ARMAITE has preserved the artisanal method of our elders: the sole is moulded by hand, the rubber is vulcanised directly on to the sole. The espadrille contour is always drawn with a chalk on a cotton canvas and cut with a bandsaw.
Our team welcomes you to our shop all year round to discover our creations. A wide range of products is available: traditional espadrilles, costume espadrilles, handbags, small purses and key rings.
The doors of our workshop are also open, and we are delighted to share our family passion with you. There you will find Claude, who has been braiding the jute and vulcanising the soles for the last 36 years. You can immerse yourself in the hubbub of the workshop and watch our employees assemble the espadrilles using the traditional techniques of our elders.
Our workshop is open to individual or group visits all year round by appointment.
