Belonging to the same family since its construction in 1341, this fortified castle was enlarged in the 16th and 18th centuries to become today a very welcoming Historic Monument, furnished and decorated with refinement. The stones of Urtubie tell six centuries of the history of the Basque Country. King Louis XI stayed there in 1463 and Louis XIV made the estate a viscountcy in 1654. In the 19th century, Soult and then Wellington spent time there during the Napoleonic wars.

Its location 3 kilometers from the historic heart of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and 9 kilometers from Spain makes it a privileged place whose charm and historical richness encourage visitors to visit.

The Urtubie Castle has a 6-hectare park, very flowery in spring and summer.

Exhibition in the 18th century orangery on "The benefits of plants in the Basque Country". For families, old wooden games have been installed in the Park and a treasure hunt is offered at no extra cost for families equipped with a smartphone.
