The Agerria farm is a family farm from generations to generations located in the heart of the Basque Country in the Arberoue valley.

Today, Bernadette, Jean Claude and their daughter Maitena are dairy sheep breeders , they develop and refine the cheese in accordance with the specifications of the AOP Ossau Iraty with raw milk. They also breed Pie Noir pigs from the Basque Country in the open air.

For twenty years, they have opened the doors of their farm to the public in order to share their knowledge and know-how . They will make you discover the cycles of life and understand the vital links: earth, plant, animal, man.

Thanks to Bernadette & Jean Claude for the opportunity to visit and stay over with our motorhome at their delightful farm. The farm tour included a wonderful tasting experience in the shop. The highlight for us was to see the sheep being milked, which was absolutely fantastic. We saw the wonderful pigs the next day, they were as happy as .... the saying goes. One thing was abundantly clear was the passion, care and welfare of their animals enjoying life in the natural surroundings. Apart from the cheese and ham, we took many fond memories away with us. Wonderful hospitality. An excellent place to stay the night (or two) with your camper van (free of charge). Great cheese and a lovely tour of the farm.

While passing through the Basque Country I stopped to shear sheep. Great welcome, I was alone but I had the same attention and consideration as the others in the group. After shearing, visit and explanation of their work, ending with a tasting of the products. Very beautiful farm, with beautiful animals such as sheep and Basque pigs. It is a deserving family who knew how to build and maintain their culture and land. Possibility to buy Ossau-Iraty cheese and ham production including Kintoa and ready-to-eat preserves. 100% farm products and affordable prices. Traveling in a backpack everything is transportable and vacuum packed the most difficult thing is to have space. It also offers accommodation. Without hesitation it is a step in the discovery of the Basque Country.
