Right in the center of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, this atypical shop opens onto a bright workshop. Handbags and accessories are made on site with premium leathers from two tanneries in the Basque Country.
Sandrine Bordenave believes in her waving fingers and her wandering imagination. With an Italian great-grandfather and shoemaker: she has “leather in her veins”.
In 1995, Sandrine joined the famous École BOUDARD where she trained in Saddlery Maroquinerie d'Art. Finally ready, it's at Hermès that she learns the magic of the High-end universe.
Then the Basque Country recalls it: there is a culture of leather goods, craftsmen and renowned local tanners. The few years that Sandrine spent in the Maison Marguirault in Saint-Jean-de-Luz made her discover the passion for the craft trade and it is in the company Devoucoux in Biarritz that she learns saddlery.
Rediscovering her roots gives confidence, so Sandrine set up her own workshop in 2002 and worked on the production of prototypes for Parisian stylists. It was then that, step by step, she began to create her own models. From his desire for independence and his career combining French know-how, local tradition and modernity, the brand Manufactoum was born in 2009 and in 2018 the very young brand Larruak.
