Bayona, a Basque house of espadrilles with 130 years of history
Founded in 1890, the Bayona house transmits the love of beauty and well-made from generation to generation. In 1999, when the factories were closing, Pierre Larralde, a former employee of the house, decided to buy the brand and pass it on to his son, Nicolas Larralde.
Bayona is above all a family story claiming a respectful modernity of the past with traditional and elegant collections. Each espadrille is handmade in the pure Basque tradition with rigor and creativity. The gesture of the craftsman and highlighted with the aim of preserving, enhancing and transmitting to generations the ancestral know-how of the Basque heritage.
Today, Bayona continues to grow. Located in Saint-Jean-de-Luz at 30 and 60 rue Gambetta, a third brand will open its doors in June 2022 in Bayonne. Also present on the internet, bayona.fr will blow out its first candle in May 2022.
