Between sea and mountains, Ciboure nestled in the heart of the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, offers an illustrious heritage with the fort of Socoa, a Vauban-style military structure; the convent of the Récollets where King Louis XIV would hear Mass; the tower of Bordagain remains of an old fortified church; Maurice Ravel's birthplace (1875-1937); the tomb of Pierre Benoît (1886-1962) author of the Atlantis and Mademoiselle de La Ferté and the Art Deco villa Leïhorra.

It remains the absolute Art Deco manifesto desired by its creator. Everything of the villa, in its smallest details, has been imagined, designed by the architect Joseph Hiriart who invents volumes, proportions and forms, composes tiles, mosaics, parquet floors, cremones, chandeliers, wall lights, furniture. It is supported by the collaboration of Art Deco artists and local craftsmen, including the master glassmaker Jacques Gruber, the ceramist Cazaux, the assembler René Prou, the glassmaker Daum, the landscape designers Gelos and the ironmonger Jean Schwartz. It is one of the very few examples of private homes in the Art Deco style and period. The Villa Leïhorra is one of those total works of art that give the feeling of accomplishment.

Mondays and Thursdays at 11am in front of the gate without an appointment. From Easter to the end of September.
