    • For 37 years, the URCHOEGUIA family has offered all knife enthusiasts a wide range of artisanal and original models.

The house makes it a point of honor to employ local artisans, whether it be for the manufacture of Basque Makhilas jewelry, of course, or even knives.

THE LARGEST CHOICE OF KNIVES IN THE BASQUE COUNTRY

The KASKAROT: the knife of Saint-Jean-de-Luz

Created by Dominique Urchoeguia in 2008, the Kaskarot is an original Basque knife with a strong character. Its corsair-style blade and its curved fishtail-shaped handle evoke the history of the city and do not leave you indifferent. This knife is exclusive to the La Civette cutleryin Saint-Jean-de-Luz.

      The famous BASQUE YATAGAN

This is the traditional Basque knifeComfortable and utilitarian, it is characterized by the inclusion of rivets in its handle as well as a Basque Cross in marquetry. It is also made of scarified medlar wood.

The cutlery also offers several Basque knife creations of its own:

      •  The Xistera, inspired by the famous Basque pelota instrument.
      •  The Ozeano, a rustic knife in a two-nail version that evokes the ocean and the Basque coast.
      •  And the brand new "Kontrabandista", a tribute to the smugglers of the Basque Country.
      •  Basque knives from the Lames de Sames workshop are also represented.

The shop also offers the biggest brands of French knives. Indeed, the made in France is put in the spotlight. We can thus find Laguioles, Thiers, Mongins, Nontrons or even Opinel. But foreign cutlery is not left out with Victorinox, Pallares, Nino, Mikov or Kai knives. In the Coutellerie in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, a large place is reserved for artistic cutlers like Manu Laplace, JP Tisseyre (MOF), JC Laforêt, Nicolas Couderc (MOF), Rémi Lavialle, Michel Grini or even Koji Hara...

      BASQUE CRAFTS

Other handicrafts are available such as the Makhila, a walking and defense stick made from scarified medlar wood.

Feminine elegance is not forgotten with the Rodon range of Basque jewelry made in the Basque Country and its large selection of pendants, bracelets, rings and earrings.

All these beautiful objects invite you to bring home a little bit of the Basque spirit.

The saleswoman, as every year, is as friendly as a prison door. Move on, you'll find better elsewhere; this is the last time I'll set foot there.

While strolling through Saint-Jean-de-Luz, we stumbled upon this cutlery shop. For knife lovers, this window display is bound to be tempting. Clear and precise explanations, a wide selection of local knives. I was captivated by an Ozeano!
