    • The San Telmo Museum is located in the old town of San Sebastián, in one of the few buildings that survived the city fire of 1813, a 16th-century Dominican convent that was restored and expanded with a proposal avant-garde. Its seat masterfully combines the old part, in which the church stands out - with the impressive canvases of Sert and the cloister with the new construction.

Inaugurated in 1902, San Telmo is the oldest museum in the Basque Country and the largest center dedicated to the interpretation of Basque society. Its exhibition presents the most important events, behaviors and ways of thinking and living that have shaped Basque society from its origins to the present. For this reason, San Telmo is the ideal place to discover the history, culture and ways of life of the Basque people through a valuable heritage that is combined with audiovisual and interactive resources to turn the visit into an experience to be discovered and to enjoy.

The museum also has an art collection with works from the 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, which are exhibited chronologically. In this way, not only do we delve into the history of art by the hand of personalities such as Tintoretto, Ribera, Rubens, Beruete, Fortuny, Madrazo or Miró, but it also allows us to know the evolution of artistic styles through the weather. The Basque art section also stands out, with paintings and sculptures from the 19th and 20th centuries by Zamacois, Lecuona, Oteiza, Chillida, Nagel and Ameztoy, among others.

In addition, the museum presents temporary exhibitions of various styles and themes that complete an interesting and quality program throughout the year.

Interesting basque museum. The ground floor showed an exhibit about the brain and the science of the brain. The basque portion starts on the second floor and is very good as it goes through time showing how the basques lived in the region. Definitely worth it for the second floor. We came in March and it cost 10 euros each

Absolutely worth the 6eur entrance fee! The building has 3 levels to take you on a trip of the city's history, with some temporary exhibits waiting as well. The whole tour could be comfortably completed in 2hours.
