  We absolutely loved our stay at Nafarrola. The hotel is lovely, with a great atmosphere and very attentive staff. Breakfast was great and the produce very local. Hotel is located in the beautiful basque mountains

  The design, spaciousness, aesthetics, and sense of exclusivity were very well achieved. The first impression was striking, and in terms of concept, the accommodation is very well laid out. However, precisely because I have worked as an assistant manager at a hotel of the same category, I believe that excellence is not measured solely by visual impact. There were technical details unbecoming of an establishment of this level: the TV remote's batteries were practically dead, and the blinds were partially inoperative (only one of the shades worked). These are basic checks on any governance checklist. We also noticed a few cobwebs. More uncomfortable was the insistence from reception that we cancel a non-refundable reservation managed through Booking.com and rebook it directly with the hotel via their own link, at a higher price and without clearly guaranteeing the same conditions (including breakfast). I perfectly understand the logic of reducing commissions, but this strategy should never be used to pressure the customer or compromise their contractual security. As for breakfast, the presentation was adequate, and the service was punctual and professional. The young man who served us; A local from Tenerife, he was incredibly kind and clearly rose to the occasion. However, in terms of the product itself, the offering didn't particularly stand out in terms of quality or differentiation. Ultimately, it's an establishment with a great product and undeniable potential, but where operational management and consistency in the overall experience are what truly distinguish a good hotel from an outstanding one.
