Armaité Beautiful traditional espadrilles made in the Basque Country

Founded in 1979, Pascale Pereira, the third generation of sandal makers, took over the ARMAÏTE company in 2002. Trained by her father, a master craftsman, for 18 years, she has managed to keep this family adventure going.

In our small workshop in Idaux Mendy, small hands make espadrilles, surrounded by old machines from yesteryear that still hum like in the good old days. ARMAÏTE has managed to preserve the artisanal methods of our ancestors: the soles are molded by hand, the rubber is vulcanized on the soles. The outline is always drawn with chalk, on cotton canvas, and cut with a bandsaw.

Our team welcomes you throughout the year in our factory store to help you discover our creations. In addition to the traditional classic espadrilles, we also offer fancy espadrilles, colorful bags and different models of purses and key rings.

We also open the doors of our workshop to you, to share our family passion. You will find Claude there, who has been braiding jute and vulcanizing soles for 36 years. You will be able to enter the hubbub of the workshop, to observe the hand of the assemblers, who assemble the espadrilles with the same gesture as that of the elders.
