Castle of Mauléon-Licharre Immerse yourself in the heart of the medieval history of the Basque Country

Dating back to the 12th ^century, the fortified castle of Mauléon, located a few kilometers from Béarn, Navarre, and Spain, quickly proved to be a site of extreme strategic importance. Perched on a hill overlooking the Saison valley, and benefiting from a bastide (fortified town) as early as the 13th century, it was considered in the 15th century to be "the strongest castle in Guyenne, perched atop its very high rock."
