Another curiosity on the heights of the village, the 16th century Saint Nicolas church.

      THE HARBOR
From the Middle Ages, the ports of the Basque coast, including Bayonne and Saint Jean De Luz, were famous for whaling. The coat of arms of the commune of Guéthary, which represents a watchman on a promontory as well as a hunter's boat spearing a whale, proudly recalls this centuries-old tradition.
Today, the port is home to around twenty colorful boats firmly moored to the 29 rings in the hold. These canoes are mainly used for recreational fishing: squid, lobsters, hake...
At the entrance to the port, the boat "Annie" will reveal its secrets to you and tell you in more detail the history of the port and its whale hunters.

      THE TERRACE
If the whales have disappeared from the horizon, the "terrace" remains a must and a privileged point to contemplate the ocean.
In the shade of the tamarisk trees, you will be able to observe the surfers evolving on the famous Parliamentia wave, the natural beaches of the village and a sublime panorama of the ocean coast which extends from Biarritz to the capes of the Spanish Basque Country.

      THE BEACHES
Small coves sheltered from view, pebble and sandy beaches, the four beaches of the village of Guéthary seduce by their naturalness and authenticity. All have their charm and their particularity.

At low tide, the beaches of Guethary reveal a wonderful space classified by the Conservatoire du Littoral and vast natural baths, which delight young children.
