- Since 1966 the JO MORAIZ surf school has been teaching surfing on the mythical beach of the Basque Coast in BIARRITZ, the European Capital of Surfing.
  
  With more than 50 years of experience, its instructors will guide you in the water during the whole course and give you advice and assistance to catch a maximum of waves and save precious time.
  The school is certified as a French surfing school and offers courses, group and private lessons from 6 to 77 years old, supervised by instructors who hold a state certificate and BPJEPS.
  
  Jo Moraiz Surf School welcomes you from April to November.
  
  Surfing lessons are suitable for beginners as well as for experienced surfers, for children as well as for adults.
  The surf school has more than 100 boards adapted and evolving from shortboard 5'10 to longboard 9'2 to follow you in your progression in complete safety.
  The surf school also has a wide range of wetsuits for all body types and all seasons.
  
  Jo Moraiz is also a surf lodge with independent apartments for 2 to 4 people for adults. Located near a lake in a quiet and wooded area, they give you access in a few minutes to the beaches and best surf spots.

This was my second year surfing with Jo Moraiz and there is definitely going to be a third! I cannot recommend it enough. What a wonderful surfing school. Of course, the location is excellent and it helps that there are almost always good waves, but the excellence really comes from the staff. As a fellow teacher I can say that each of the instructors are absolutely wonderful and definitely know what they are doing. They are positive and knowledgeable, think of safety, take level differences into account and really see you individually and actively coach you in what and how you can improve. There are also plenty of instructors on each lesson. The staff at the reception is also very friendly and quick to help you out. They will try to work with you when they are fully booked as well. Almost everyone there speaks English well to fluently (but they are very modest about it!). I have tried quite a few surf schools by now and am always pretty happy, but this is really the one that makes the difference for me and where I just want to return. Tips: book in advance during summer as summers at Biarritz get very busy, and bring cash as you cannot use your cards down at the beach.

Brilliant session. This crew fitted me in on the day. No problem with my poor French skills, all 3 instructors in the group spoke perfect English, delivered clear instructions and had me standing up and catching waves in no time. I will definitely use them again the next time I visit. Bring cash, there's no card machine. Thanks a lot to the whole team!

Fantastic surf week with special thanks to Alex, William and Mahieu. My 12 year old son quickly gained confidence and had a lot of fun with these highly skilled and professional surf instructors ! Will definitely be returning next year!

Overall it was a bit loosley organised. The staff was a bit passive and you had to ask to get equipped. Boards were in good shape, wetsuits a bit smelly. Instructions in the beginning were clear...
