  Four friends from a rock band learning to surf is great for band bonding. So we went to a surf school in Bidart run by a famous surfer from the Basque coast because it had been recommended to us, and we weren't disappointed. Okay, we're better with our instruments than with a surfboard, but we made good progress, partly because we'd already surfed a little. Plus, our instructor was Jean, a super-skilled Basque guy who also plays guitar, so he was able to help us practice our scales on the waves. And Erretegia beach is wild and unspoiled—exactly what we were looking for.

  My wife and I came to take a surf lesson at Christophe Reinhart's surf school on Erretegia beach in Bidart, and we loved it. Jean, the surf instructor, is so friendly and lovely, and his teaching skills are excellent, so we booked a second lesson the very next day. We got along really well with Christophe, and it's clear he's been passionate about surfing his whole life. I highly recommend it, and long live the Basque Country!
