    • At the heart of the Basque Coast, spread out over a 5km coastline, and on the side of cliffs, the village of Bidart is ideally located to (re) discover the Basque Country and soak up the art of living specific to our destination .

At the crossroads - "Bide Artean"

The etymology of Bidart, the contraction of the words "bide" (path) and "artean" (at the crossroads) defines the village "at the crossroads", at the crossroads, where the coastal path meets the mouth from the Uhabia river.

Its motto "Bidartean zuzena onena" means "at the crossroads, the straightest path is the best" says a lot about the strong character written in the DNA of the bidartars.

      In Bidart, we are expected

Bidart has not escaped the development linked to the attractiveness of the Basque Country and over time has transformed into a small town which has managed to retain its village soul. As proof, the recently renovated Place Sauveur Atchoarena is also the beating heart of Bidart where you can experience a local, natural and genuine atmosphere.

Here, many of the establishments are family-run, sometimes passed down from generation to generation with the ambition for each to be anchored in its time while respecting the work of the elders. Transmission, sharing and hospitality are strong values of Basque culture, and... choosing Bidart as a holiday destination also means choosing to come to someone's house, to learn a little more about it every stay. that is our village, and the Basque Country.

      Expertise

Here we discover unique know-how such as the work and creations of Couteliers basques, workshop Ona Pilota Basque pelota champions Jon & Patxi Tambourindeguy who manufacture and repair Basque pelota balls and chistera gloves, pastry shops and bakeries in Moulin de Bassilour which flourish with the flour and snacks of yesteryear.

Take the time to do everything & also to do nothing

When you come on vacation here, you have 1000 possibilities to occupy yourself : sports activities, cultural visits, gastronomic discoveries, activities in groups or privatized, guided or in autonomy, there really is something for all tastes.

And it is also possible to do nothing, to let yourself be lulled by the rhythm of the holidays, the sound of the waves, the sound of the church bell, the smell of restaurants, the colors of the market stalls, the view of the mountains and the figures of surfers on the spots.

I stopped off at a main road car park, very open, with houses around, opposite Uhabia Beach to take some photos of the lovely beach and surfs there. I left my car (Spanish Plated) for 30 mins and...
