It was during the 2020 lockdown that Isabelle Mata, the brand's founder, began to consider how she could apply her civic and eco-responsible values to her event agency, Biarritz For Events. She envisioned offering corporate retreats that would raise awareness about environmental protection, teach best practices, and foster a reconnection with nature. This is how Ekko was born. Ekko combines business tourism with preserving the planet.

Eco-responsible activities are integrated into the programs of Biarritz For Events and are recognizable by the small EKKO logo.

The aim is to introduce clients to "another Basque Country," more authentic, more genuine, one that respects the men and women who work tirelessly to preserve this destination where nature remains fragile. To achieve this, we naturally turn to the coast—beaches and ocean; the forest and mountains; sensory experiences; and finally, the art of recycling.
