Markets in the French Basque Country

What a pleasure to wander through a Basque market ! Colorful, delicious produce reminiscent of an exceptionally rich terroir, you'll find ham, chili peppers, cheese, and local pastries, as well as linens, berets, espadrilles, makilas, and basketwork. The Basque Country is rich in cultural and gastronomic heritage, of which the markets are a living symbol.

Main traditional weekly markets in the Basque Country:

• Anglet

The Quintaou market is held every Thursday and Sunday morning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Quintaou esplanade, with 160 exhibitors, including local producers.

The Anglet night market is held every Friday in July and August from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on the Sables d'Or esplanade.

The covered market of the Halles des 5 Cantons from Tuesday to Sunday from

from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.).

The Jardins du Refuge market is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

• Ahetze : Flea Market, 3rd Sunday of the month
• Ainhoa : Producers' Market from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursdays in summer from mid-July to the end of August
• Arbonne : Every Sunday morning from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. , farmers' food market, Place du Fronton
• Arcangues : Traditional Market on Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the town parking lot

• Ascain: Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Place Pierre Loti under the market hall
  

• Bayonne

The covered market hosts a market every day with varying hours depending on the day (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. / Friday: 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. / Saturday: 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. / Sunday and public holidays: 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)

The market at Place des Gascon is held on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The main market Polos-Beyris on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The market in the Saint-Esprit district is open every Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Place du Maquisat: food market / Square Gambetta and Place de la République: non-food market

A local producers' market at Carreau des Halles on Quai Roquebert, on Quai Chaho and rue Pelletier on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Allées Marines fishery is open every morning except Sunday until 1 p.m. depending on the tide times.

The Séqué market on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The flea market every Friday morning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. along the Quai Chaho and the Roland-Barthes esplanade

• Biarritz
  

The covered market at Les Halles is open every morning from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. In summer, the merchants are also open from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Saint Martin Quarter market on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Place Saint Charles market on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (an artistic meeting is also organized on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

The Iraty Village on the 3rd Friday of the month from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

• Bidart:

The "4 seasons" market on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Bidart'Eko farmers' market , Tuesday mornings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from July to mid-September

The night market in July and August, Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

• Boucau: Saturday morning , on the sports field opposite the Town Hall from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• Cambo les Bains

The traditional market on Friday mornings on Chiquito Street from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The flea market every Wednesday from March 1st to December 31st at Parc Saint Joseph

• Ciboure

The Sunday market on Sunday morning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. opposite the town hall

The Untxin flea market every first Sunday of the month Place Koxe Arbiza

• Espelette : Wednesday mornings from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for the local produce market under the covered market, and on Merkuza Plaza for the outdoor market.
  
• Guéthary : Sunday mornings from May to September on Place du Fronton

• Hasparren: Tuesday and Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. , farmers' market (every other Tuesday in winter)

• Hendaye

The traditional market at Place de la République on Wednesday mornings from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The traditional market at Sokoburu Square on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The creators and artisans market on Mondays in July and August from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Boulevard de la Mer

The Rendez-vous du Palmiers (food and craft fairs) on Tuesdays from mid-April to mid-September at the Palmier roundabout

Thursdays at the Port (night market) from the end of June to the end of August from 8 p.m. to midnight, Place Sokoburu

• La Bastide-Clairence : Producers' Market on Tuesdays , between the beginning of July and the beginning of September, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Place des Arceaux

• Mauléon: Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Halles on the castle square

• Saint-Jean-de-Luz

The food market on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Les Halles

• Urt : a local producers' market once a month between June and September at the fronton

• Tardets: Every other Monday off-season. Every Monday morning in season from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• Ustaritz: Saturday morning , Place du Labourd from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
