    • In an authentic producer cider house, unique in the Basque Country, come and discover the Sagarno (apple wine), the oldest drink in the Basque Country and all the ceremonial of its tasting: the TXOTX !!!

To understand the Sagarno culture is to enter the heart of the Basque Country. You can taste other apple-based drinks with or without alcohol, produced at the cider house. A great moment for children: apple juice served at Txotx!

And why not extend the visit with the famous Txotx meal! Typical of Basque cider houses.

On the menu: pintxos (tapas), tasty txuleta (rib of beef) and chicken leg grilled from the south-west in the dining room, prawns, grilled vegetarian plate, apple desserts, etc...

All Txopinondo® products are handcrafted, respecting authentic know-how.

Opening hours for visits and shop:

Years later, this remains one of our favorite memories from our vacation to France and Spain. It was a joy and a delight to be hosted by Francois and to enjoy cidre straight from the casks. It is a communal experience drinking cidre here ... so arrive late on Friday or Saturday and you will have a glorious time and some good steaks. Almost no worries about overdoing it here ... cidre is pretty low in alcohol. It tastes nothing like hard cider in America (i think it tastes more like a low%, fruity beer) ... so dive in and go with their flow and it will be memorable

In normal times, I would have given this place 4 stars: the food is basic but nice, the "apple wine" is enjoyable, the price is a little high for what you get, but OK. The staff are friendly and helpful, but have absolutely no control over people moving from the tables to cider barrels with no masks on. Some people even came in with no masks at all and were shown their table as if the situation were totally normal. Not good for a place that has no tables outside. If I were the owner, I would suspend the "txox" (cider fetching) sessions and serve people at the table, rather than have them all get up and walk through the room to the barrels. Also, I would ask people to simply abide by the law and wear masks on getting up from their tables. There's a good reason behind this.

This was truly one of the high points of our 2 week trip, traveling with 9 of us in the family, from Chicago and Madrid. The owner was delightful and so knowledgeable. All enjoyed trying the various ciders.. The young people particularly enjoyed the variety. And the food was fabulous! We'll remember this experience for a very long time, and are so grateful to the team.

I visited as part of a large group that almost filled the large "cidrerie". Our host was charming, kind and pleasant; there was enough T-bone to feed a lion and the cidrerie is simply striking. The...
