    • Handmade talaia, walking sticks, makila and Basque knives

Éric has set up his workshop between Biarritz and Bayonne to make magnificent Basque walking sticks inspired by the makila . In ash wood and customizable , it is the perfect hiking companion , a real wooded gem . In his workshop on the Basque coast in Anglet, he makes these walking sticks of all sizes and for all tastes . You will love walking with these beautiful and useful objects.

Talaia, unique walking sticks, like a makila in Anglet

With know-how and love of wood , Éric wishes to restore all its greatness to the makila , a fairly short Basque walking stick , with a flat knob reserved for the nobility and ultimately little used. Creative and meticulous , he wants to make objects that serve, and so created the beautiful talaia walking stick in precious wood . This material with strong symbolic value is flexible and resistant , perfect for making tools or accessories. The pommel can be customized to your liking. Choice and engraving of the pommel in Manech horn (Sheep from the Basque Country, local horn!) black or in bone, engraving of the brass dagger and engraving of the stick , the choice is yours. The 4 sizes offered make it possible to adapt to each one for a precious and unique object to your taste. Go hiking, you will be well accompanied. Check out the Laguna Rod, which is Eric's interpretation of the Makila, but without the tip.

New: The Shepherd's umbrella, an institution in the Basque Country, a wide and comfortable umbrella, practical and elegant, entirely in wood (the ribs are in wicker). A 4-hand collaboration with the family business Les Parapluies des Pyrénées in Pau, for a series of 4-hand umbrellas, integrating a Talaia stick for the handle, mounted with the mechanics of this famous umbrella. An object as beautiful as it is functional.

Talaia, accessories to maintain your makila in the Basque Country

The motto "My fellow traveler" fits very well with this traditional walking stick which is important to maintain. Wood is a living material that evolves over time. In his artisan shop , Éric offers several products intended to keep your makila in good condition. A non-slip rubber tip to protect the stainless steel tip, and protective covers made by Lartigue 1910 . This dynamic company of Basque household linen and fabrics collaborates with Éric to create an authentic Basque product adapted to makila and walking sticks . The pantxica fabric initially used for making espadrilles, wonderfully protects this unique walking stick, which can adorn a living room with a beautiful handicraft . Do not hesitate to visit this extraordinary workshop , where knives and makila are designed with passion and precision .
