    • A fishing port with undeniable charm

Ondarroa is above all a dynamic fishing port on the Spanish Basque coast. Its lively and colorful port makes the city vibrate. Fishing boats rub shoulders with the traditional “traineras”, long, thin boats used for fishing and regattas.

      A rich historical heritage

The city has a medieval historic center where two main monuments are to be observed:

      • The Santa Maria church is located on a rock, with a panoramic view of the city and the sea.
      • The Likona Tower, in the upper part of the city, which was once used as a guard post.

      A preserved nature

Ondarroa is surrounded by natural landscapes : sandy beaches, cliffs and forests allow visitors and locals to hike and try outdoor activities when the season allows.

      Local gastronomy

Being on the seafront, you will easily find freshly caught fish and seafood in the town's restaurants. Don't miss Ondarroa's must-try specialty, hake a la mode de Ondarroa, grilled on the grill and accompanied by a unique sauce.
