  We stopped in La Bastide Clairence before heading to St-Jean-Pied-de-Port. It's very hot these days, like almost everywhere in France. Luckily, the dining room at the Iduki restaurant is air-conditioned. There's also a swimming pool (Iduki is also a holiday residence), and Marco, the owner, suggested we take a dip. Back to the restaurant, the welcome was very pleasant, and both courses were excellent: grilled baby squid and hake in a basil crust, both served on a perfectly creamy risotto. Then came dessert, a deconstructed lemon tart, and what a disappointment! There wasn't a single ounce of lemon in the cream. A shame, we pointed it out to our waitress, telling her that the chef must have simply forgotten the lemon and hadn't tasted the cream. Hence the 4-star rating. The prices are reasonable.

  On Sunday at 1:05 PM, in 33-degree heat, my partner and I went to eat with our 3-month-old baby. Despite having tables available inside and the terrace being practically empty, we were told they wouldn't serve us. We saw a sign at the entrance stating that they were open and that their Sunday hours were until 3:00 PM… If they don't want to serve customers at these hours, I would appreciate it if they changed their hours, as people who come from far away travel to places like this only to be turned away!
