Located on the Basque Coast, near San SebastianOrio is a small fishing village with a privileged natural environment. On one side, the Oria estuary flows into the sea near the beach, and in the background, the green coastal mountains rise up.

Orio has a particularly rich maritime heritage. The villagers have distinguished themselves throughout history as whale hunters and boat builders. This heritage is reflected in the small but picturesque historic centre, in the open-air grills where fish is cooked on the embers, and of course, in sport: rowing is the town's great passion.

      Historic Center

Dating back to the 13th century, the historic centre retains its medieval triangular layout. Its narrow streetscoats of armsfinely worked sandstonecobbled passages and historical referencestransport visitors to another era. There are also traces of Jorge Oteizaa thinker and sculptor born in Orio who revolutionised contemporary art.

      Gastronomy

The grills are an emblematic feature of the village, found right on the street. The smell of grilled fish or meat, the crackling of embers and the smoke are part of the sensory landscape. The Orio-style sea breamis the flagship culinary specialty, but it is not the only one.

      Sports

The estuary, the sea and the mountains offer an ideal setting for long walks and the practice of numerous activities: hiking, cycling, fishing, canoeing, surfing, swimming, paragliding... and of course, rowing.

      Beach

Orio is a privileged place where the sea, the river and the mountainmeet, with landscapes dominated by green and blue. Antilla beachextends over 3,500 m². On the beachfront, a magnificent playground, bars, restaurants and superb walking trails enrich the experience.
