Gipuzkoa is a province in northern Spain, which borders the border. Its coast is reputed to be one of the most beautiful in the Basque Country on the Spanish side. It forms a landscape of steep cliffs, dotted with small coves, where a few beaches nestle. These are often natural and wild sites, renowned for their beauty. On the other hand, those located in La Concha Bay and the mouth of the Urumea River are more civilized because they open up to its provincial capital, San Sebastian. No. 1: La Concha beach

La Concha beach is nicknamed the “queen of beaches”. Indeed, it is located in the heart of the sumptuous Baie de la Concha. You will appreciate its view of the charming island of Santa Clara. It borders downtown San Sebastian. It is not only the capital of the province of Guipuscoa, but also the most famous seaside resort in the Bay of Biscay.

It therefore offers you all the services and comfort of urban beaches, in an idyllic setting. You can practice canoeing, stand-up-paddle, diving or rent a sailing boat. No. 2: Itzurun Beach

Itzurun Beach is located in the municipality of Zumaia, in Guipuzcoa. It is its mineral environment that characterizes it. It is surrounded by impressive cliffs. You will discover the "Flysch" , layers of sediments and rocks, which form a kind of furrows. It is a geological curiosity that really deserves the detour. This movie set has also hosted the filming of the series “Game of Thrones”.

But this is not its only asset. Impressive waves also crash on its coast. It therefore offers a spectacle of great beauty, during windy days, and it is a treat for surfers. When the weather is calmer, you can practice canoeing or bodyboarding. Many services are at your disposal: shower and toilets, access for people with disabilities, mattress rental, restaurants. No. 3: Malkorbe Beach

Malkorbe beach is located near the old town of Getaria. It runs along the marina. It's a long beach, where you have room to lay your towel. The waves there are deemed to be not very dangerous. In addition, the beach is supervised in season. It is therefore the ideal site for a family outing, with children, even small ones.

You can practice all kinds of activities there: pedalo, beach volleyball… It is also a famous diving spot. It benefits from an urban environment and offers many services: parking, toilets, showers, mattress rental, restaurants. It is a family friendly beach.

Getaria Beach

No. 4: Zarautz beach

Zarautz beach is a vast expanse of 2500 meters of sand! It is the largest beach in the province of Guipúzcoa. On the other hand, the waves can be impressive there. It is therefore very popular with surfers, but it is not the most recommended beach for families with children.

If you want to learn about this sport, you will find five surf schools nearby. They also offer other water activities. It is a lively and sporty beach. Competitions are held here regularly. The beach is well equipped, with toilets, games for children and different types of catering. It is also supervised in season.

Zarautz Beach

No. 5: Saturraran Beach

Located near Ondarroa, on the border between Biscay and Guipuzcoa, Saturraran beach is a small cove of white sand. It offers a pleasant setting, surrounded by nature, while being near the Port of Ondarroa. You will have the opportunity to taste a good fish, by the sea!

Everything is provided for your comfort: free parking, shower and toilets. There is also disabled access. It is one of the rare beaches where naturism is tolerated, on an isolated part. While strolling around, you will find a small farm typical of the Basque Country.
