Owned by the same family since its construction in 1341, this fortified castle was enlarged in the 16th and 18th centuries to become a very welcoming Historical Monument, furnished and decorated with refinement. The stones of Urtubie tell six centuries of the history of the Basque Country. King Louis XI stayed there in 1463 and Louis XIV raised the estate to a viscountcy in 1654. In the 19th century, Soult and then Wellington passed through during the Napoleonic Wars.

Its location, 3 kilometers from the historic heart of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and 9 kilometers from Spain, makes it a privileged place whose charm and historical richness encourage a visit.

Urtubie Castle has a 6-hectare park, full of flowers in spring and summer.

An exhibition in the 18th-century orangery on "The Benefits of Basque Country Plants." For families, antique wooden games have been installed in the park, and a treasure hunt is available at no extra cost for families with a smartphone.
