EGIATEGIA, the underwater winemaking experience

In Ciboure, on the Basque coast, EGIATEGIA made a unique choice: to use the ocean as a wine cellar.
At a depth of 15 meters, in the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, the wines evolve according to the rhythm of the tides, the pressure and the natural temperature.

This underwater winemaking method, patented and developed since 2007, gives rise to wines with unique profiles, shaped by the marine environment.

An immersive visit between Land and Ocean

From the Socoa land-based winery, located in the former House of Blocks, set off to discover the history and know-how of EGIATEGIA.

The visit takes you behind the scenes of this innovative method:

The project's origins, the immersion of the vats in the sea, the ocean's role in fermentation… a true immersion into a unique world. The experience continues with a wine tasting on a terrace offering breathtaking views of the Bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz.
