Explore the concept of Underwater Winemaking
Located on the Basque coast, in Ciboure , EGIATEGIA has been developing a unique and doubly patented method since 2007: underwater vinification.
This method involves submerging their polymer tanks in the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz. A second alcoholic fermentation is created inside the tanks which are submerged 15 meters deep in the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz.
The team welcomes you to their Terrestrial Cellar, located in the historic Blocs de Socoa house. Discover each step of their method during various tours, then enjoy an exceptional tasting with a breathtaking view of the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz.
Each tour begins with a visit to the Terrestrial Cellar and an explanation of the underwater winemaking method. The tasting that follows varies depending on the option chosen:
The DENA DELA tour : €12 per person - Duration: 45 minutes
Tasting of two wines from the Dena Dela range and one from the Artha range.
The ARTHA tour : €25 per person - Duration 1 hour
Tasting of 6 wines from the Dena Dela and Artha ranges.
The LOCAVORE tour : €40 per person - Duration: 1.5 hours
Tasting of 6 wines from the Dena Dela and Artha ranges. Each glass of wine is served with pintxos made from local products by one of our caterers.
The FUN tour : €50 per person (minimum group of 8 people) - Duration: 2 hours
This is a private immersion for groups of at least 8 people, a true invitation to discovery and pleasure of the senses. The visit continues with a fun sensory experience with the game of aromas, a blind tasting and a quiz on their method. The visit ends with the tasting of 4 wines paired with pintxos made from local products by one of our partner caterers. A gift will be offered to you as a souvenir of this experience.
Tours can be conducted in French, English or Spanish.
Please note that each visit is done standing up, and requires going up and down stairs.
It is also possible to have a quote for groups and private tours on request.
