Directions MEHAKA - Espace historique - An interactive immersion in the history and culture of the Basque Country

About

  • English
    • Located in the heart of the village of Baigorri, the Mehaka historical centre offers an insight into the history of Lower Navarre, one of the seven Basque provinces. From the creation of the Kingdom of Navarre in the aftermath of the Battle of Roncesvalles to its conquest, division and annexation, more than 1,000 years of history are presented here.

Through animated videos, maps, copies of written and archaeological documents, and many other media, the municipality of Baigorri wanted to transmit a part of its local heritage to a wide audience and make known to as many people as possible the uniqueness of this territory and the culture that animates it.

The Mehaka historic center is freely accessible from Monday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
