    • Suspended 150 m above the void, the Holzarté bridge is the most spectacular of all those you can encounter between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean! Accessible after a hike of about an hour, the suspension bridge jumps 70 m across the canyon of Olhadubi to allow you to reach the other bank. The panorama is striking, you don't have to be dizzy to cross as you feel like you're walking in a vacuum.

ATTENTION mountain and hiking trail: significant drop, come equipped
      Ascent: 822 m

History: The suspension bridge is a technical work that dates from 1920. It was built by Italian workers who were employed in the workshops of the Lombardi Morello steelworks in Tardets. It allowed loggers to cross to the other bank and quickly reach the logging sites set up in the surrounding forests.

Restored in 2010 after the damage caused by the storm Xynthia, it is now completely secure, to the delight of hikers. You will thus appreciate a grandiose landscape, formed by torrents for millennia, in the limestone of the Pyrenean massif.

MOUNTAIN TRAIL: Remember to be well equipped for a hike on the GR10 (mountain shoes / water / whistle / survival blanket). To go up to the footbridge it takes about 1h30 and for the loop 5h (plan picnic), we advise you to leave early in the morning to enjoy the landscape.

Relatively short, but quite steep hike through mostly shaded forest to this impressive suspension footbridge. Well worth the walk for sure! There is a particularly steep section of this hike with steel wire as a handrail that when we went (hot day in Autumn) was very slippery so take care. Should be around 2-2.5 hours return from the road for the relatively fit.

The view on this hike is outstanding the entire day. Wear shoes with a good grip as the rocks are very slick in some parts and you'll encounter mud quite often. It's labeled as moderate and I would say it's moderate to difficult due to the slick rocks and steep ascension at parts. ABSOLUTELY worth it.

Loved this hike! It was an uphill grind and the 14 year old girls with us groaned a bit, but so worth it when you arrive at the gorge. It's a fun couple of hours for the family if you only go to the gorge, but it definitely continues.
