    • CAR ACCESS

Leave the car in the parking spaces available near the departmental road (D26). Then, access on foot via the "Mulinako bidea" path, at the start of the hike located just after the Mouline bridge (parking is prohibited there). Your GPS may indicate a different access, which is that of the municipal road "Amübiko bidea" for the most part unpaved, where the crossing is difficult and/or where non-4x4 vehicles can be damaged. It is strongly advised not to take this road with an unsuitable vehicle.

During the summer period, a shuttle connecting the towns of Tardets and Larrau also provides access to the start of the site (information on ww.txiktxak.fr).

Suspended 150 m above the void, the Holzarté bridge is the most spectacular of all those you can encounter between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean! Accessible after a hike of about an hour, the suspension bridge jumps 70 m over the Olhadubi canyon to reach the other bank. The panorama is striking, you must not be afraid of heights to cross as it feels like you are walking in the void.

ATTENTION mountain and hiking trail: significant difference in altitude, come equipped
      Elevation gain: 822 m

      History

The suspension bridge is a technical structure that dates back to 1920. It was built by Italian workers who were employed in the workshops of the Lombardi Morello steelworks in Tardets. It allowed loggers to cross to the other bank and quickly reach the logging sites set up in the surrounding forests.

You will enjoy a magnificent landscape, formed by torrents over thousands of years, in the limestone of the Pyrenees massif.

      MOUNTAIN TRAIL

Remember to be well equipped for a hike on the GR10 (mountain shoes / water / whistle / survival blanket). To climb up to the footbridge, it takes about 1h30 and for the loop 5h (bring a picnic), we advise you to leave early in the morning to enjoy the landscape and to be able to turn around in the event of an incident.
