About

  • English
    • Urrugne is first and foremost an agricultural area of 5000 hectares between the tip of Socoa, the bidassoa and the top of the Rhune, it is then a typical village, a remarkable and majestic church whose bell tower culminates at 45m, and finally a castle, that of Urtubie, built in 1341, and which is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the Basque Country.
Visit especially the 16th century church and its splendid wooden galleries inside on 3 levels, and the castle of Urtubie with its eventful history: built by a Basque nobleman in 1341, fortified under the orders of the King of England , almost completely destroyed in 1493 before being rebuilt in the 16th and remodeled in the 18th. Pleasant visit, beautiful period furniture and tapestries from Flanders...
