    • Aixerrota Restaurant: Basque and Peruvian flavors in Getxo

In Getxo, near Bilbao, the Aixerrota restaurant reinvents Basque cuisine with flavors from Peru. Located in Andra Mari, overlooking the Cantabrian Sea, at the foot of an iconic windmill, it combines local produce, creativity, and spectacular views. A Basque-Peruvian dining experience perfect for lunch with friends, a business meal, or a special occasion.

      Basque cuisine with Peruvian influences

Aixerrota 's menu celebrates the dialogue between the Basque Country and Peru. The chef unites Peruvian roots and Basque soul to revisit timeless recipes, using local produce.

On the seafood side, ceviches and tiraditos combine the catch of the day, bluefin tuna, or shellfish with a "tiger's milk" sauce seasoned with yellow ají or rocoto peppers. The embers and wood-fired oven enhance the flavors of fish, sea rice, and select cuts of meat. Biscayan classics, such as tripe à la bizkaina, are featured alongside creations like spider crab tagliatelle à la huancaína.

Desserts extend the journey: lúcuma ice cream, purple corn, mango, and tres leches. A wine and cocktail list completes the experience, from the first aperitif to the last drink.

An exceptional setting facing the sea

With its tranquil atmosphere, spectacular location on the La Galea trail, and sea views, Aixerrota is perfect for a business lunch, a celebration, or a leisurely meal. Under the watchful gaze of the old mill, time slows down, allowing you to savor the experience at your own pace. The restaurant also hosts private events.

And history is never far away. Built in the 1720s to alleviate a drought that paralyzed the watermills, this windmill ground corn for talo, the Basque flatbread, and for livestock. Its name, in fact, means "windmill" in Basque. Purchased by the municipality in 1955, it became a bar-restaurant in 1961 and remains an emblem of Getxo today.
