LUZ 26: a highly specialized art gallery

Located in the heart of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, next to the "Bar Basque" opposite the Grand Hotel and the Hotel Madison, its exhibitions attract regulars, but also the attention of those strolling along the seafront! Luz 26 specializes in post-war abstract art, also known as
"LYRICAL ABSTRACTION", this great pictorial movement carried by the young talents of the NEW SCHOOL of PARIS who flocked to the FINE ARTS.

They were very numerous, coming from different countries, like some GIs who remained in France in 1945 and pursued their studies and careers there: Bill Parker, John-Franklin Koenig, and JH Levée are all represented on the walls of Luz 26! And while the great "leading figures" of this Abstract Art, like Nicolas de Staël or Pierre Soulages, have become untouchable museum artists, many other artists possessed talent and creativity, and their oils, gouaches, or watercolors will fulfill your collector 's expectations: such is the case with Oscar Gauthier, Jacques Germain, and Jean-Marie Calmettes.

The LUZ 26 Gallery still has two areas of specialization:

• Collages, a delicate and difficult art form, allow you to dream with Arthur Aeschbacher, the mysterious Anna Shannon, or

the very inventive Raymond PREAUX known as "the Agent".

• Finally, PHOTOGRAPHY and numbered SILVER GELATIN PRINTS from the late 2000s, with wonderful celebrity portraits "printed" by Luc FOURNOL, or Jacques DENARNAUD... not forgetting a detour through the frontons of the BASQUE COUNTRY, and the beautiful images of pelota players by Polina JOURDAIN-KOBYCHEVA!

Open Tuesday to Saturday inclusive from 9:30am to 12:30pm and from 3pm to 7pm in July, August and September (open during school holidays)
