VISIT TO THE BRANA VINEYARD IN THE HEART OF IROULÉGUY

Maison Brana has been located in Ossès, in the heart of the inland Basque Country, since 1897. Winegrowers and distillers for four generations, it remains an essential address for anyone interested in good local products.

In Ispoure, a few kilometers from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, Domaine Brana clings to the slopes of the Basque mountains. The vineyard stretches across 18 hectares, cultivated mainly on narrow terraces on steep inclines, with four distinct terroirs: red Triassic sandstone, claystone, beige limestone, and clay-limestone. An impressive, hand-crafted landscape that speaks volumes about the estate's exacting standards.

In 1984, Jean Brana created the first independent estate in the Irouléguy AOP and was instrumental in the revival of white wine in the appellation. A pioneering initiative in one of the smallest appellations in France, now recognized for the distinctive character of its mountain wines.

The estate has been certified organic since 2024, the culmination of an environmental commitment that dates back to the early years of the vineyard.

This summer, the vineyard opens its doors

This is the big news for summer 2026. The vineyard in Ispoure opens its doors from July 2nd, Tuesday to Saturday, 11 am to 6 pm. It's a chance to stroll among the terraced vines, learn about winemaking in the mountains, and discover this exceptional terroir. Visits by reservation only.

On-site, the Terrasses Brana invite you to extend your visit, glass in hand, while enjoying one of the most beautiful panoramas in the Basque Country. The wine list features the Domaine's red, white, and rosé Irouléguy wines, as well as the Maison's eaux-de-vie, liqueurs, gins, pastis, vermouths, and whiskies, all to be enjoyed with local Basque products.
