Tradition and Innovation in the heart of the Basque Country

Maison Brana, rooted in the Basque Country since its creation in 1897, produces exceptional wines and spirits that reveal all the richness of this region of character. Initially wine merchants, then distillers and finally winemakers, it has always been driven by a deep passion for the land and the fruits it bears. It preserves a know-how of excellence passed down from generation to generation. Over time, it has evolved without ever compromising the quality and authenticity that have made its reputation for more than a century.

Located in the heart of the Basque Country, Maison Brana produces liqueurs and spirits in its Ossès distillery and Irouléguy wines in its vineyard located in Ispoure.

Founded in 1974 by Etienne and Adrienne Brana, the distillery began with the planting of a William pear orchard, giving rise to a pear brandy that has become a staple in the region. Since then, the range has continued to expand.

Maison Brana offers a refined selection of exceptional spirits, created with passion and expertise. At their distillery in Ossès, this expertise translates into the production of eaux-de-vie, gins, whiskies, and liqueurs. Innovation takes center stage, with creations that combine fruits, spices, and plants, offering a unique sensory experience, unique to Maison Brana.

The white eaux-de-vie, true fruit concentrates, are available in William pear, raspberry, clementine, plum and Corsican citron. On the gin side, two exclusive recipes have been developed: an Espelette Pepper Gin, which combines the sweetness of spices with the liveliness of this famous Basque spice, and a Lime Gin, highlighting fresh and zesty citrus notes.

In 2023, Maison Brana launched its first Basque whisky, named Laminak in tribute to a local legend. This whisky is brewed, distilled, and aged entirely in the Basque Country.

The liqueur range consists of six flavors: raspberry, pear, clementine, lemon verbena, mint, and cocoa. These natural liqueurs are produced by macerating and distilling the fruit.

Maison Brana invites you to come and discover and taste its wines and spirits in its two boutiques, in Ossès and Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and in its pop-up boutique (July-August 2025) within the Vignoble Brana, in Ispoure.

Since June 2025, it has also opened the doors of its Ossès distillery and organizes tours, an immersive journey to the heart of the place where eaux-de-vie, whiskies, gins, and fruit liqueurs are designed and produced. The highlight of the show: a tasting of the spirits, for an experience as enriching as it is delicious.
