Arrikrutz Caves Underground treasure in the heart of the Basque Country

Located on the highest peaks of the Basque Country's interior, in the heart of the Aizkorri mountain range, the Oñati-Arrikrutz cave is one of the largest caves in Gipuzkoa. This cave was a pioneer in speleological and paleontological research in the Basque Country and is notable for the discovery of the complete skeleton of a cave lion (Panthera leo spelaea), the Arrikrutz lion. At the Oñati-Arrikrutz caves, visitors can choose from guided tours of varying lengths and difficulties, finding the experience that suits them best: Gallery 53, a whole world to discover; EspeleoArrikrutz, another way to explore the underground world; and/or the family adventure Espeleotxiki.
