They were shaped by drops of water with wisdom, modesty and perseverance. These ancient caves are home to a stream, the Urtxume, and a history. We invite you to discover it throughout a 40-minute "sound and light" tour, enhancing all the beauty and power of nature . According to legend, this is where the laminak lived, whose voices still seem to echo in the water that flows through the depths of the site.
The Urdax Caves were inhabited by our ancestors at different times in the Paleolithic and Mesolithic periods. The famous French speleologist Norbert Casteret discovered in 1930 "a magnificent shelter under the rocks", Berroberría, and "a cave with engravings", Alkerdi. The Alkerdi Cave houses, at the end of a corridor, engravings made on a stalagmite. They represent a bison and a deer and probably also a horse, and they date back to the Upper Magdalenian, around 13,000 years ago. However, it is currently impossible to contemplate these drawings, for conservation reasons.PRICES
