  We stayed at Camping Le Ruisseau in Bidart nearly three years ago for a family holiday and initially had a wonderful time. The campsite itself was enjoyable and we had no complaints about our stay during the holiday. However, during our visit the campsite’s maintenance team damaged our rental car while working nearby. At the time, the manager, Nathalie, was very apologetic and handled the situation professionally. She accepted full responsibility and even provided us with a written letter confirming that the campsite would cover the cost of the damage, which came to nearly €1,000. Unfortunately, since returning home the situation has been extremely frustrating. Despite having written confirmation from the campsite accepting responsibility, we have spent nearly three years trying to resolve the issue. We have sent multiple emails and letters and made numerous phone calls, but we have received little to no response. The matter has now had to go through the small claims court, who have also attempted to contact the campsite without success. What is most disappointing is the complete lack of follow-through and customer service. We feel extremely let down that something the campsite accepted responsibility for has simply been ignored for so long. After nearly three years of trying to resolve this, the lack of communication and accountability has been appalling. It has caused unnecessary stress for our family over what was supposed to be a happy holiday. I do not like leaving negative reviews and would much prefer to resolve issues directly with a business. However, after nearly three years of trying to contact the campsite without any meaningful response, I feel it is only fair to let others know about our experience and how this situation has been handled.

  Very disappointed with this campsite; the hygiene is more than questionable. There were rats on the pitches. No hot water for washing dishes and the drain was overflowing. We booked a caravan pitch. The pitch was on gravel, making it impossible to put in the tent pegs. We were promised a discount on our stay for the inconvenience, but when we sent our email as requested upon departure, we received no reply. We followed up four times and still no response. The water park is nice, but again, it's a shame the slides were closed and out of order. The maintenance staff were unpleasant. Avoid at all costs.

  Overall, we were rather disappointed and won't be returning. The mobile home was decent, spacious, and generally clean. However, it wasn't good value for money. The campsite is divided in two by the road. The evening entertainment consisted of bingo and three shows by the staff… Really, when you pay this price for a week's camping, you expect more. Kudos to the kids' club staff for the varied activities and evening entertainment – ​​that was great! Unfortunately, there were major communication problems; we didn't always know where to drop off or pick up the children, which was very frustrating.
