    • Between legends and stories, in the footsteps of the myth of Quetzalcóatl, relive the conquest of the Mayan and Aztec civilizations as well as the arrival of chocolate in Europe and Bayonne ! Then step back in time with our collection of old manufacturing machines.

Throughout this journey, watch with a gourmet eye the artisanal production of our specialties made from 100% pure cocoa butter chocolate. Educational and fun, this course reveals all the stages of chocolate production.

Finally, from the harvest to its final transformation, experience the intense journey of the cocoa bean through a short film (20 minutes of screening) and discover all the secrets of its production.

A workshop for children then offers little budding chefs (4 to 12 years old) the opportunity to practice the profession of chocolate maker, giving free rein to their imagination to decorate a delicate white chocolate bite. Fun creations they will proudly take home.

Contemplate, touch, listen, smell, bite... At the end of the journey, your taste buds are rewarded with the tasting of a selection of exceptional and unmissable chocolates.

You can book the tours very easily online. We did it in one of the shops. The two people working in the shop in the museum were very nice and could speak English very well. Almost everything is also written in English. They even offered to change the video that usually runs in French to the video in English. You can watch them working in the factory. Very interesting. They have a little activity for children at the end. My daughter loved it. Trying the chocolate at the end was of course the best. The man working at the shop explained each piece of chocolate very well, and it was very interesting. Of course we couldn't leave empty handed.

This is THE place/palace of Chocolate! The museum offers a nice trip through chocolate history. In particular, it explains how Bayonne has become the chocolate capital city in France. The visit ends with a delicious tasting. Guided by an expert, you can taste different flavors of chocolate and also share your feedback. Kids are even offered a workshop … (this is a surprise!) Last but not least, the shop is a great opportunity to purchase top quality products for a reasonable price.

A fascinating journey through the history of chocolate and how the Basque country became such a powerhouse of the stuff. The tasting at the end was surprisingly informative! If you are staying at the nearby Campanile the 'atelier' is just behind it. Google's walking directions will take you on a long windy route, but there is significant shortcut... ask at reception.
