    • In an atypical place steeped in history – the Anglican church of St Andrew's (1878) – the Biarritz Historical Museum is an associative museum full of charm and treasures where you can discover local history. To do this, you will cross different eras which made Biarritz what it is: Biarritz village of fishermen and farmers, Biarritz city of heart of Eugénie and Napoleon III, Biarritz and the Roaring Twenties or even Biarritz and the world.

Driven by the sole concern of preserving and transmitting the heritage of their city, stubborn and passionate Biarrots have brought together a very rich and varied collection in this museum. Come and discover this unique collection of 4000 pieces, objects, works of art...

Entering this Anglican church is like taking a fascinating journey into the history of Biarritz, that of a small whaling port which became a world-famous seaside resort.

A half-hour video projection, retracing the main stages of the birth and development of the city, is also offered continuously.

Audio guides in 4 languages: French, English, Spanish, Euskara

      Open Tuesday to Saturday: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. / 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (July-August: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. / 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.)

Such a lovely museum run by brilliant staff. It has a beautiful Porch dedicated to those who fell in the south-west of France during the Peninsular War, including “Wellington’s Master Builder of Military Bridges” Lt. Col. Henry Sturgeon who died at Vic-en-Bigorre on 19th March 1814, husband of Irish-born Sarah Curran from Newmarket in County Cork.

Collection of pictures, posters, clothing and other artifacts detailing the 1000 year history of Biarritz. It is in the converted Anglican Church ans features only part of the material assembled from donations of the major families of Biarritz since 1980 when it was founded. Some English information provided. Could benefit from more displays and additional space. Parking is a challenge.

It was something like EUR10 for two people to visit a museum with literally one room. It had some cool stuff (posters, British trivia, a few signs in British) but nothing like the pots of treasure...
