  Fabulous region and fabulous people Lovely campsite in a fabulous region in the Basque country. Lots to see and do in the region. Campsite was well maintained and plenty for all to do. Our only complaint was our pitch was in a very dark and shaded area so dark we had to use the lights during the day. Our accommodation also had no oven which meant we had to eat out a lot which was expensive. We made the most of our trip and enjoyed it very much. Staff are friendly and helpful.

  We have just returned from our first visit to this campsite, and having been slightly concerned following reading some reviews, I thought I’d add our experience. Some people have commented that the pitches were very close to each other. Personally we stayed on the ‘reception’ side of the road, which seems by far the best side. I would say that this side of the campsite felt very well looked after with mature trees and shrubs and the caravans did not feel closer than any other French campsite we’ve been too- it certainly didn’t feel cramped where we were. We had a very nice new and modern ‘VIP’ caravan and it was clean and well cared for. We walked to the other side of the campsite across the road, and that did feel more like an ‘overflow’ area somewhat, and we did note that many of the eurocamp sites/ pitches were very poorly located at the very far side of the overall site nearest a road, and these did feel a lot closer and just row upon straight row of caravans without any real ‘soul’. The pool was great when sunny, but cold when not and I’m guessing if heated, isn’t heated to a very high temperature. Our kids loved the slides when warm enough to use them. The campsite restaurant near the reception was surprisingly very good- far better standard than you’d normally expect on a camping holiday. The location is ok. Bidart is a town and accessible with a free shuttle in July and August, with lots of lovely houses, a small town square, but not a lot else. You are however very near to Biarritz and the nicest beaches seemed to be away from Bidart. You can easily get to Spain, the mountains and the rest of the coastal area around though with a vehicle. For us as a family with 3 boys, the biggest disappointment was easily the entertainment. If you think about the 90’s, pre Internet, when teens would go to their bedrooms and come up with a dance routine- this basically sums up what has to be the worst campsite entertainment I’ve ever seen. We’re English but live in France and have holidayed in many campsites all across France. This though was very poor. The Michael Jackson ‘tribute’… he’d be turning in his grave! The welcome show had no theme other than a load of random songs with a bit of miming, bit of singing and lots of dance moves. Prior to this holiday we spent 10 days at a campsite called Sylvamar in Labenne- my oh my, the entertainment and activity was like chalk and cheese! So, overall, I agree with many, it doesn’t feel like a 5* site. It’s somewhere around a 4* site with some really nice aspects, and some bits that could just be a bit better.

  After paying so much for a holiday to be charged extra to use one of the pool facilities is ridiculous, furthermore for it to be locked during the day adds to my annoyance. Also the lifeguard in the slide pool won’t let me down the slides in my ring. I feel more safe in the ring going down the bowl slide as there is a large enough drop when you come out. If these issues would be fixed it’d be great 👍🏻 😊
