  Beautiful bay at the mouth of the Bidasoa River between Fuenterrabía/Hondarribia and Hendaye that marks the border between Spain and France and ends in the Cantabrian Sea between the breakwaters of both beaches. Ancient marshes reorganized on the occasion of the construction of the Fuenterrabía airport (EAS) and the breakwaters of the beaches of Hendaye and Fuenterrabía/Hondarribia, which in both cases achieved extensive, wide beaches of fine, well-kept sand. Close to the French shore, there is the island of birds and in the southern part, the marshes of the Playaundi natural park, protected areas for birds. You can take beautiful walks along both shores, especially at high tide. At several points the bay is considerable wide although, depending on the tide (it can have a 4 m difference in height), it may be more or less deep, so boats, and especially sailboats, must take the necessary precautions and follow the signs. to avoid hitting bottom (especially leaving the port of Hendaye). There is a nautical chart with the depths of each area. It can be seen in its entirety with good views from Mount San Marcial (Irún) and from Mount Jaizkibel and the lighthouse road (Fuenterrabía).

  There is a nice bidegorri on the bank of the river, which goes from Irun to the end of Hendaia beach, passing through the Santiago bridge and the Hendai marina. A beautiful excursion to spend the day.
