The Cave of Irouleguy AOC Irouleguy wines - Cooperative winegrowers in the Basque Country

In the heart of the green lands of the Basque Country, the Cave d'Irouleguy is a cultural treasure trove, a place where traditions and values meet around an exceptional product, Irouléguy wine.

Created in 1952 by 9 passionate winegrowers, the Cave d'Irouleguy is the first wine cooperative of the AOC Irouléguy. Today, it represents a collective on a human scale and remains one of the smallest wine cooperatives in France. Its operation is based on exchange and a spirit of solidarity where winegrowers and employees join forces to produce the most characteristic wines of this terroir.

Located in the heart of the Basque Country, the grapes come from vines planted on the slopes of the Basque mountains and are harvested exclusively by hand. The wines produced by the Cave d'Irouleguy have the liveliness, elegance and aromatic charm of mountain vines. The emblematic vintages, organic or without sulfites, are each the expression and fruit of the work of the winegrowers. The richness and diversity of the grape varieties make their wines, vintage after vintage, products of emotion and exaltation of the senses.

The Cave d'Irouleguy is also a tour circuit integrated into the scenographic shop and with free access in order to understand the journey from grape to bottle. Immersive videos, a game around scents and views of the cellar allow you to realize the work carried out by the winegrowers and employees of the Cave. For children, a drawing corner and a circuit at their height are offered.

Our team also offers wine tourism activities:

• Discovery tour: introductory approach to La Cave and its vineyard allowing you to discover in detail all the strategic stages of winemaking and to taste the wines (by reservation only)
• Electric scooter rides: a fun activity off the beaten track to get as close as possible to the work of cooperative winegrowers by venturing into the rows of vines.
• Vineyard walks with audio guide: a unique opportunity to learn more about the Irouleguy vineyard while strolling through the vineyards.
