Directions Maison Adam - A must-try gourmet experience in the Basque Country

About

  • English
    • It was in 1660 that Louis XIV brought fame to Maison Adam by enjoying some macarons at his wedding to the Infanta of Spain in Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Since that day, the same shop at 6 Rue de la République has sold the same macarons that the king had the opportunity to taste, as well as other pastries from the region.

In their shops, you'll find the authentic macarons of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, the recipe for which Maison Adam has held since 1660 and which has been passed down through 13 generations. These macarons are made with almonds, egg whites, and sugar. Don't ask for more details; the recipe has been a secret for over three centuries.

Maison Adam's Basque cakes are made and displayed in the window every morning, whether they're filled with cream, cherry, chocolate, or apricot-walnut. They are all generously filled. They are available in large sizes or individually for those who prefer not to share. Throughout the year, you can also discover seasonal recipes for Basque cakes: praline, lemon, coffee, orange.

Are you familiar with Maison Adam's soft cakes ? If you're looking for a delicious cake that everyone will love, look no further! You'll find them in individual sizes with lemon, orange, pistachio, hazelnut or chocolate, and in a large cake to share with pistachio, orange or chocolate.
