Last week, we discovered HINO, the café-restaurant run by two sisters from Biarritz, where the ravioli have an Asian twist. This week, we’re staying in Biarritz, with the lighthouse as our backdrop.

On Place Bellevue, with the Biarritz lighthouse as a backdrop, the Café de Paris is opening a new chapter. And frankly, it's off to a great start.

A few steps away, on Bellevue Square overlooking the ocean, the Café de Paris opens a new chapter with its new table, Pluma, a name inspired by the house's emblematic piece: the Iberian pluma.

In a warm, eclectic setting, with wood textures and shades of beige and brown, the walls are adorned with frames, photos, and travel inspirations. The new Café de Paris celebrates a menu inspired by international flavors, centered around grilled meats that encourage a spirit of sharing.

Settled on the plush banquettes or on the sunny terrace facing the Biarritz lighthouse, the festivities begin with finger food, showcasing a free-spirited, unpretentious cuisine designed for sharing. The Basque roots are evident in strong signature dishes: txisto dog, taloa, croquetas, soon joined by Asian and Iberian influences : fried gyozas with Basque black pudding, crispy baby squid with ginger-lemon mayonnaise… A grand opening, accompanied by a world music playlist that provides the soundtrack for the day.

As for the main courses, everyone can choose their cut from a decidedly meat-focused selection, where the specialties are grilled: Iberian pluma, Basque pork loin, hanger steak, and Angus Prime ribeye. These are accompanied by a choice of sides, from almond rice to the ever-popular fries, not forgetting a tasty sesame vegetable wok.

With the aim of attracting a local and office clientele, the restaurant offers a lunch menu that changes daily, as well as quicker options designed for those in a hurry, such as salads or a smash burger.

The sweet selection also deserves a place: you will only have to choose between a pavlova with exotic fruits, a vanilla-caramel iced bun or, to remain true to the spirit of sharing of the house, a big sundae with milk flower to enjoy with several people.
