An unforgettable experience in the heart of the Basque Country for young and old, blending history, geology, culture and mythology!
Nestled in a verdant setting, within the preserved Xareta valley, just 20 km from the Basque coast, the Sare caves reveal themselves as an invitation to step back in time and immerse oneself in a thousand-year-old natural site…
The guided tour of the Sare caves offers an enriching and emotionally charged journey, following in the footsteps of our ancestors. It's an opportunity to understand and reconnect with the profound bond that, since the dawn of time, has united humankind with nature—a relationship at the origin of our beliefs and cultures.
Freely accessible, a megalithic park and a site museum allow visitors to deepen the knowledge acquired during the guided tour.A protected natural site:
Classified within the Natura 2000 network, the Sare caves site benefits from enhanced protection thanks to its rich fauna and flora, including the presence of endemic species. Among the emblematic inhabitants of these underground spaces, bats sometimes make an appearance!
Outside, a pleasant park invites relaxation in a peaceful setting. Picnic tables are available, and several hiking trails pass in the immediate vicinity of the site, offering a wonderful immersion in Basque nature.
