    • An original approach to the underground world !

In CAVES of SARE, visitors will hear in the depths of the earth, the echo of a human adventure that lasts for thousands of years!

At the heart of a remarkable natural and historic territory, a particular emotion emerges ... Feel this link that has always united us with nature, this relationship through which our beliefs and our cultures have emerged. The visit to the caves of Sare pays tribute to the famous anthropologist JM de BARANDIARAN who studied and transcribed this relationship between mythology and sites.

At the caves of Sare, The tour is rythmed thanks to light and sound effects, open to everybody, young and old people. It lasts 1 hour and focuses on 4 themes : the geology of the cave, prehistory, Basque people’s origin and their Mythology.
The site museum and the megalithic park allow you to freely complete the tour.

A Bar area is open year-round and fast food is offered in summer.

Then extend the exploration of our territory by embarking on hiking trails from the GROTTES of SARE to discover the Navarrese villages.

Well worth a trip, the way the strategically placed lights are turned on and off to illuminate the highlights of the cave and conserve it's structure is a lovely experience. We said a few 'wows' on...

The place is interesting, the guide is really good and knows many things, I had a good time. Better to bring a jumper, a cardigan or a jacket with you.
