    • Located in the heart of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, between Place Louis XIV and Esplanade Foch, Bistrot Simonne welcomes you to a warm and intimate setting, with a distinctly bistro feel : wooden furniture, vintage chandeliers and bar counter, and tableware sourced from places like Mamie Simonne's or from flea markets. Bistrot Simonne is the brainchild of Émilie and Vincent, a passionate young couple who met during a hospitality school internship in the kitchens of Jean Coussau in Magescq.

In the kitchen, Émilie works with fresh, seasonal produce, creating a concise menu. A trained pastry chef, she has chosen a signature dessert inspired by her paternal grandmother's original recipe: a semolina cake reimagined in her own style, served with homemade vanilla ice cream, salted caramel sauce, and a cocoa tuile. In the dining room, Vincent offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, taking the time to advise guests on the carefully selected French and Spanish wines. He also offers cocktails and other house-made drinks such as peach iced tea and lemonade.

The lunch and dinner menu consists of two starters, one of which is vegetarian, and three main courses: one meat, one fish, and one vegetarian option. Dishes are prepared using local Basque Country produce, and the menu changes regularly with the seasons. From Tuesday to Friday at lunchtime (excluding August), a set menu of starter, main course, and dessert is offered.

We thoroughly enjoyed Bistrot Simonne in the heart of Saint Jean de Luz, run by a young couple since May 2025. The cuisine is simple yet delicious, made with quality ingredients. We ordered the mushroom and Parmesan risotto and the semolina cake with salted caramel sauce. Excellent value for money.
