    • TALAIA: A boutique featuring exceptional Basque artisan products in the Basque Country

The Basque Country is a vibrant region steeped in history and tradition. Driven by a deep passion for his homeland, Éric opened a unique workshop and boutique in Anglet, ideally located between Bayonne and Biarritz. In this space, he restores the prestige of authentic and iconic objects. Walking sticks, Basque knives, and handcrafted accessories are revealed like true jewels, made with fine, high-quality materials. Step into a world where precision and craftsmanship reign supreme, and leave with a Basque symbol rich in history.

TALAIA: A must-visit shop for Basque knives and makilas in Anglet

Since 2020, Éric has dedicated his expertise to creating objects inspired by Basque traditions. The Basque knife, with its blade as imposing as its handle, is crafted from exceptional woods such as juniper, olive, ebony, and boxwood. The blade, made of Damascus steel or forged, demonstrates extraordinary artisanal precision. Whether pocket knives, table knives, or kitchen knives, each piece bears a label of quality and authenticity, reflecting Éric's meticulous work.

TALAIA makilas, meanwhile, embody quintessential Basque elegance. Crafted from ash wood and featuring a black horn or bone pommel, these walking sticks, inspired by the traditional makila, can be personalized to your liking. Discover objects that are both functional and steeped in tradition, available exclusively in this unique boutique.

The Shepherd's Umbrella: Tradition and artisanal excellence at TALAIA

An icon of Basque pastoral life, the shepherd's umbrella is both a utilitarian and symbolic object, passed down from generation to generation. Éric, a passionate cutler, reinvents this emblem by combining his expertise with that of Hervé and Christophe Panto, artisans specializing in the craft for three generations. The TALAIA shepherd's umbrella is distinguished by its robust cotton canopy, nine rattan ribs, a shaft made of charred ash wood, and a handle made of buffalo or Manech horn. Every detail, down to the handle adorned with the seven bands representing the Basque provinces, reflects an absolute respect for tradition.

Available in five colors and with three different handles (black horn, Manech horn, or bone resembling ivory), the TALAIA shepherd's umbrella can also be fully personalized. Have your initials, a symbol, or a message engraved on the handle, or a phrase on the brass ring. This exceptional product is much more than a simple accessory: it's a piece of art and history to bring back from your stay in the Basque Country.

      A world to discover

At TALAIA, every object tells a story and bears the mark of a passionate artisan. Whether you're looking for a Basque knife, a makila (a traditional Basque walking stick), or a shepherd's umbrella, you'll find authentic creations here, made with love and respect for tradition. Come explore this unique world in Anglet and treat yourself to a timeless and meaningful piece.

Beware, you're entering the bear's den! This place is discreet, but overflowing with professionalism. A lover of distinctive knives, I was in heaven. My choice, an authentic shepherd's folding knife, was designed with Eric, assembled within a week, and shipped to my door. The Makila, hiking poles, and umbrellas are breathtaking in their meticulous and delicate craftsmanship. In short, a great place for lovers of fine blades. Eric is a good one.
