About

  • English
    • Founded in 1886, Confituras Goya is a family business dedicated to artisanal confectionery and chocolate that currently has a production center located in Vitoria-Gasteiz and ten stores, distributed between Vitoria-Gasteiz, Bilbao and Pamplona, in which it markets its entire range of products (pralines, truffles, nougats, chocolates, jams, pastries, pastries, candies, etc.).

Confituras Goya was founded in 1886 by Manuel Goya, who opened his first establishment on Mateo Moraza Street in Vitoria. At that time, confectioners made sweets as well as candles, as both products had a common raw material: honey.

His son Saturnino Goya succeeded him, moving the workshop and store to what is now Dato 6 Street (then "Ensanche de la Estación").

It was during the time of José Goya Mendizábal, the third generation, that the innovations were incorporated that, over time, have become the main characteristics of the company. In the 1920s, he created the "Vasquitos and Nesquitas" chocolates, which were initially just two varieties to which other delicacies such as Bocaditos, Kirris, Goyescos, Basque Fruits, etc., as well as Truffles, were added. Later, he also designed the famous box in which these chocolates are sold. When José Goya Mendizábal and Teresa García Ugalde married, the Goya and García pastry shops merged, incorporating the Dato 20 store and moving the workshop to Ortiz de Zárate Street.

With José Manuel Goya García, the fourth generation, a great expansion and consolidation of the company was achieved by opening four new stores; Avenida Gasteiz 78, Avenida Gasteiz 45, Ortiz de Zárate 6 and Duque de Wellington 8. In 1997, the workshop was moved to a new pavilion at Barrachi 35. The new facilities allowed the modernization of production processes, the expansion of the product range and the strengthening of its quality. Currently, Confituras Goya is already in its fifth generation and is expanding its network of stores regionally.
