Abarratia, the autonomous beer of the Basque Country
Abarratia is the autonomous beer of the Basque Country, brewed in Ayherre, in the heart of the Basque Country, at the foot of Mount Abarratia. From the beginning, the brand has been built around a strong idea: producing a local, craft and responsible beer, while making the most of the resources and know-how of the Basque Country.
Abarratia produces bottom-fermented craft beers, designed to be easy to drink, generous and full of character. They are beers made for sharing, whether at a meal, an aperitif, a village festival or simply with friends.
The brand is proud to produce a beer that is autonomous in energy, raw materials and water, while keeping production as local as possible.
The Abarratia range: Basque craft beers for every taste
Abarratia offers a varied range of Basque craft beers, from light and refreshing beers to more characterful and aromatic recipes.
The Blonde – 4%
The Abarratia Blonde is a light, fresh and easy-drinking beer. Its balance between malt and hops brings out notes of honey, cereals, herbs and fruit.
It is also Herriko certified, highlighting its local production and connection to the Basque Country.
The Blonde is available in cans and kegs, making it suitable both for individual consumption and for bars, restaurants and events.
The White – 4.5%
Slightly cloudy, floral and refreshing, the Abarratia White combines citrus and fruity notes with the aromas of orange peel and coriander.
A fresh and approachable beer, ideal for an aperitif or to enjoy throughout a meal.
The White is available in cans and kegs.
The Session IPA – 4.5%
The Session IPA is an aromatic and refreshing beer, with a pronounced hop character while remaining easy to drink.
Its floral, fruity and exotic fruit notes make it a great choice for hop lovers looking for a lighter IPA.
The Session IPA is also Herriko certified and is available in cans and kegs.
The Triple – 7.5%
The Abarratia Triple is a stronger beer with more character. Special malts give it rich cereal and toasted notes, balanced by hops and a subtle bitterness.
A generous and full-bodied beer for those looking for a more powerful craft beer.
The Triple is available in cans and kegs.
Abbey Beer
Abarratia also offers an Abbey-style beer, with a richer and more traditional profile, inspired by the great Belgian brewing tradition.
Bakea by Abarratia
Bakea, meaning "peace" in Basque, is the light and festive beer of the Abarratia range.
Designed with the spirit of Basque village festivals and popular celebrations in mind, Bakea is a very light, easy-drinking beer made for sharing and enjoying more than one during a good night out.
Bakea is currently available exclusively in kegs, making it particularly suited to bars, festivals and events.
Abarratia Sans Alcool
Because enjoying a good beer does not always mean drinking alcohol, Abarratia has also created an IPA Sans Alcool.
Available in a 33 cl can, this alcohol-free IPA offers an aromatic and hoppy profile while remaining fresh and easy to drink.
What makes Abarratia an autonomous beer?
Abarratia's identity is based on three forms of autonomy.
Energy autonomy: the brewery uses photovoltaic solar panels and produces more energy than it consumes.
Raw material autonomy: wheat, malt and hops are sourced from the Basque Country whenever possible.
This approach is part of a broader commitment to responsible production and to maintaining a strong connection with the local territory.
A committed and responsible Basque brewery
Abarratia has designed its production with the aim of reducing its environmental impact.
The brewery favours short supply chains, local suppliers and distribution networks, while using solar energy and reusing water whenever possible.
The choice of packaging is also part of this approach. Abarratia beers are packaged in aluminium cans and stainless-steel kegs, with a focus on reducing waste and avoiding unnecessary plastic.
The brewery also works with local partners to give a second life to brewing by-products such as spent grain.
Beer on tap, kegs and events
Abarratia beers are not only available in cans. The Blonde, White, Session IPA and Triple are also available in kegs for bars, restaurants and events.
Abarratia also offers beer dispenser hire and countertop keg solutions for private parties, festivals, corporate events and other occasions.
For an event in the Basque Country, it is therefore possible to serve Abarratia beer directly from the tap and enjoy a truly local craft beer experience.
Abarratia, a beer made to bring people together
Abarratia is above all a Basque craft beer made for sharing.
At a village festival, around a table, at an event, in a bar or simply with friends, its different recipes offer a beer for every occasion.
