About

  • English
    • A passionate beekeeper and jam maker since his youth, Jacques Salles created the Loreztia shop in Bayonne in 2005. In Euskara, Loreztia means " honey sweetness ", and that is how the passion was transformed into a profession.

In their quest for quality, Loreztia's jams are simmered in copper cauldrons. Made with 70% fruit, cane sugar, and a touch of honey, the jams are cooked quickly over high heat to preserve the flavors and textures of the fresh fruit. On the shop shelves, you'll find a range of local jams, allowing you to discover the flavors of the Basque Country and its surroundings. The fruit is harvested by small producers within a 100km radius of Bayonne. For those with a sweet tooth, Loreztia offers a range of original recipes with surprising flavor combinations, such as Pear-Caramel or Kiwi-Apple-Orange.

You'll also find seasonal jams, including one made by Olentzero, a fictional character from Basque culture who descended from the mountains during the Christmas season, and Ekihori jam, which means "This Sun" in Basque, for the summer season. Each one is made with a very specific blend, ready to delight your taste buds… Staying true to its traditions, the shop gives special prominence to its famous Black Cherry jam, with three recipes, perfect for spreading on toast or cheese.

The entire Loreztia team awaits you in the shop in Bayonne and will be delighted to let you taste the honeys and jams of the moment, so that you can enjoy their fruity and unique taste!
