Couteau Basque Old-fashioned workshop, a trade, a passion in Anglet

The Couteau Basque cutlery store houses a unique exhibition in France, showcasing regional French folding knives from the 18th century to the present day. The collection includes no fewer than a thousand!

Knife historian , Companion cutler and Master craftsman, Christophe will be able to answer questions from collectors and knife enthusiasts who wish to improve their knowledge and/or seek advice.

Because advice is an important part of the characteristics of these two truly passionate craftsmen. Listening, advice and support always prevail in their eyes. Priority is given to the transmission of knowledge.

Also, Christophe's expertise and experience allow him, for example, at the request of a client, to assess the value of a found knife.

The repair of folding and fixed knives, swords, axes and sabers are part of the work of the Couteau Basque workshop. As is the renovation of knives damaged by intensive use or damaged by the years.

The shop opens onto the workshop thanks to two wide-open French windows. It is pleasant to watch the cutlery team working in a peaceful and cheerful atmosphere, which smells of the wood being worked!

The team has grown as it now includes an apprentice, Lycia, who has been trained in cutlery for 2 years and is preparing for her state diploma.

The visit to the regional knife exhibition is of course free.

Couteau Basque cutlery will welcome you from Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
